A major solo exhibition

by the Irish sculptor Paddy Campbell

Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Florence

From 5th July to 28th August 2013

Born in Dublin in 1942, Paddy Campbell started

childhood love ? Art ? in his early fifties.

He studied drawing, painting and sculpture in
Florence and established his own studio there in
2001.

He has exhibited extensively in Ireland, Italy, United
Kingdom, and Greece, and was commissioned in
2008 to sculpt the official portrait of the President
of Ireland, Mary McAleese.

He now lives and works in Florence.

Palazzo Medici Riccardi, located in Via Cavour, close to
the Duomo in Florence, was the home of the Medici Family,
and is the second oldest palazzo in Florence.

Today it is one of Florence?s most important museums,
housing many major artworks and architectural innovations
of its time (1445), and now also hosting contemporary
sculpture and painting.

Michelangelo Buonarroti started sculpting there, at the
age of 13, in the garden of this Palazzo, and some of his
work from that time is still to be seen in the cortile. In
the same garden, Paddy Campbell?s sculptures can be
seen by Florentines and visitors alike.
